This is a very popular rope for good reason, it is perfect for both landscape and decoration applications as well as exercise use.
If you want this for EXERCISE use you came to the right place, this is a common rope for some specific types of exercise. The 1 1/2 size is the diameter most likely found in gyms and workout centers but the 2 inch size also gets used by folks looking for a bigger challenge. This rope weighs 1 lb. per foot. Most people get a 40 - 50 foot section for the "battling ropes" or "ropes gone wild" type of workout.
If your preference is LANDSCAPE or DECORATIVE use, this rope is also perfect. More docks, had rails, and other decorative projects use this rope than any other.
Keep in mind that manila rope shrinks when it gets wet, so if you plan on using this outside then order an extra 15% in length to accommodate for that. If you are going to use this to hang between posts for instance, you must account for this shrinkage or the rope will pull the posts out of the ground. Don't worry though, as soon as the rope dries it goes back to almost all of it's original length.

No, this rope isn't oiled, but a lot of people think it is since it has what some consider an "oily" smell. This rope is a natural fiber product, so it contains a small amount of moisture, and the organic nature of the fiber gives it the unique smell. Over time that smell goes away, but when it is new, you certainly know it because of the fragrance!
