Selma Fids

$68.00
SKU: 0900
Weight: 1 lbs 3 ozs
DescriptionThis is a kit of fids. These are very unique and are exceptional for anyone who is splicing hollow braid rope. The key benefit to these fids is the tooth on the inside that grips the rope, so you don't need to tape the rope to the fid.

"Poor choice, snags"

on 4/12/2016 5:29:08 PM

Write your review here: These fids are a poor choice. They are not full circle and are open at the tip. This allows strands inside the sheath (braided outside) to catch on the tip of the line in the fid if the line is protruding slightly past the covered section, arresting all forward progress. In a tight rope, you don't know this has happened because the fid is difficult to move anyway. Brion Toss tool is far superior.

"Selma Fids for doublebraid rope"

on 3/28/2016 10:33:08 AM

Write your review here: They work better than one other type, but still hard to get through tight rope without catching on the core. The fid my husband designed and made works better still. I like these for the larger rope, though. The hook does eliminate the taping on the outside of the fid.

Product Details
The Selma Fids are a must for the serious splicer. These are constructed out of stainless steel and have a hole on the end so that when you push this out of the rope you can put a pin in there to pull it through. The smallest size in this kit works great for picking the core out of rope on double braid. Since the Selma Fids nest inside each other, they take up very little space making it an ideal addition to any bag of splicing tools. These come highly recommended for our splicing shop.

Sizes include: 4.0 mm, 5.5 mm, 7.5 mm, 10.0 mm, and 13.0 mm
