Knot in a Bottle
Weight: 1.5 lb
We're all out of ships in a bottle, but we stumbled upon this gem.
Rarely, if ever, do you get a chance to acquire one of these.
Dave Cook, one of our guys in the knot tying department (yes, we actually have that here) decided to attempt the impossible and do the "bowline in a bottle" knot. Well after lots and lots of attempts, he finally pulled it off.
This item is a glass bottle containing a three strand rope tied into a bowline knot.
Size and shape of the bottle as well as type of rope used may vary from the above pictures.
Some people might ask, what in the world am I going to do with this? Well, I will tell you.
This makes a great decorative item for your living room or bar counter. Or display it as a unique trinket in your recording studio, semi truck, office or zen garden.
Inevitably, someone will ask you the following.. "Where did you get that?" or "What in the world is that thing?" At this point feel free to make up a story that will impress them with -what is certainly- your adventurous lifestyle. Might I suggest something along the lines of the following...
Well, I was down in Key West to retrieve gold coins off an ancient Spanish galleon ship sunk hundreds of years ago. We spent a whole week looking around for this vessel but just couldn't find it. After a long night of drinking and card playing at a local bar I met an ole' timer down there with a long beard and mutton chops . This guy was a tough old bird and was rather quiet, keeping to himself in the corner of the bar while smoking a pipe and keeping the company of a mischievous character with an eye patch and peg leg. Late into the night he motioned me over to his table and gruffly told me to sit down. He proceeded to tell me that he would be possibly able to tell me where the ship was if I would cut him in on the profits. I said... "old man, how am I sure you know what you are talking about" He grinned and looked at the eye patch friend of his. Then he slowly reached down into an old leather bag on the floor.... Stopped.....looked at his friend who nodded, and then slowly revealed a bottle.... with a bowline knot tied INSIDE of it. He said "son, I'm an old man, and I have seen a lot of characters come and go here at this bar, but I'm willing to help you out. If I can tie a bowline knot in an old bottle, then by-golly I sure as heck know what I'm talking about!
Your friends will be amazed with your impressive adventures, not to mention your ability to come up with unique and utterly ridiculous stories for their entertainment.
And that my friends, is why this knot in a bottle is a bargain at only $40. Dave thinks we will never sell many of these.... prove him wrong.
Quite simply the most difficult thing our master knot tyer Dave Cook has ever made. These things are beyond rare.
We only have these when Dave gets the time to make them...when they're sold, they're gone.
